Allison Graham, Del Col pace Wave down the mountain

The Darien High School ski team competed against Amity, Cheshire, Fairfield Prep, St. Lukes and Staples in near spring conditions at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on Feb. 2.
The girls team, with a time of 346.01, finished in second defeating Cheshire with 367.09, Amity 371.88, St. Lukes DSQ, but lost to Staples 328.47.
The boys time of 342.15 put them in fifth.
Darien defeated St. Lukes DSQ and lost to Fairfield Prep 307.13, Staples 319.58, Cheshire 326.99 and Amity 338.82.
“The boys had a tough night in the poor ski conditions and their record is 6-10 so they have their work cut out for them next week to qualify for states,” Darien coach Brian Zeyer said. “The girls continue to do well and stand at 8-4, but can’t let down next week against a strong field.
“They’re all doing their best to qualify for the state competition later this month.”

Next was Courtney Kyritz 56.08, Katharine Graham 56.40, Kailin Edgar 57.28 (co-captain), Abby Howe 60.47, Kelsey Edgar 61.47, Sarah Swirbul 62.46, Fay Rizzuto 64.52 (co-captain), Hannah Nilsson 67.99, and Taylor Hart DSQ.
Boys: Peter Del Col was first with 52.97, then Chris Brophy 55.14 (co-captain), Matt Nelson 56.05, Nick Wolf 58.21, Graham Lesco 59.17, Mike Rizzuto 60.61, Will McCoy 62.45 (co-captain), Chris von Stuelpnagel 63.46, Andy Mogenson DSQ (co-captain), and Pablo Castro DSQ.
